Section 26 provides for the issuing of licences for a number of traditional hunting practices not involving firearms.
The hunting of hares with a pack of beagles or harriers during the closed season requires a licence under Section 26 (2). Section 26 (3) provides that the Minister may, on application by a club affiliated to the Irish Coursing Club, grant a licence to hold regulated coursing matches during the closed season for the hunting of hares.
