Grouse Hike
Date: 24 March 12 - 24 March 2012
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: We shall be meeting opposite Ballinastoe Golf Club near Roundwood. Participants will need their own transport to get there.
Saturday 24 March
The Red Grouse is an iconic bird of heather moorland. Sadly, its numbers are declining. Join us on this slow hike of 4 to 5 hours across open mountain, where we will discuss the ecology and management of the species. If we are lucky we may also see some grouse, but sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Practicalities: This hike is for adults only. Please bring a packed lunch and be equipped for hiking in bad weather—hiking boots & rain gear are essential. No dogs please. This event is free of charge.
